5 Questions For The Crossroads You Find Yourself At Now

The last five years have seen tremendous upheaval in the way people work, and the way organizational developments professionals support organizations in their work. I ran a regular “Practitioners in Transition” group at the annual OD Network conferences for a while, and the participants  reported they’ve since found the questions we explored relevant for the broader crossroads of life folks find themselves facing.

This approach of exploring five questions for the crossroads found renewed relevance in recent coaching conversations we’ve had. So we’re offering here for everyone the questions we take individuals and groups through. Whether the context is a ‘new coaching client intake’ or an ‘intact team undergoing change’, the questions work equally as well. The important point is to take the time to explore them in sequence using whatever reflective practice comfortable to you (meditation, writing, liberating structure, etc). For yourself, and if appropriate, for your group. The questions are:

  1. What crossroads do you find yourself at now?
  2. How do you feel about it?
  3. What (possibly competing) values do you wish to serve as you move forward?
  4. What gifts have supported you through previous transitions?
  5. How are you calling those gifts forward now?

There’s a bonus question we’d add that has come up among our clients: “What must you stop doing, or start doing, to help you move forward now?”

We’d love to hear how you’ve used these, individually or in group, and the results they brought you. Please comment below or contact us directly to share more.

All the best in your work, and as always, let us know if we can help.
