Workshop Wednesday: Visible And Invisible Workplace Boundaries

18-BlueTape

Each Wednesday we post a photograph that illustrates some of our work.

This one shows the room setup for a group dealing with unacknowledged boundary issues (the leader demanding people do work outside their specific function). We circled the chairs with blue painters tape before everyone arrived, but made no mention of it when they did. We tracked who stayed within the taped area and who stepped outside of it. When the topic of boundaries, boundary management, and boundary crossing emerged, we had live in-the-room data to make the topic concrete.

Check back next Wednesday for another perspective on how we work.
